Decision day came out of the gates hard and we try something new this week. We give a full “live” timeline update of all the goals and their impact on the playoff picture on the final week of the 2016 regular season.
The Penultimate week of the 2016 regular season has come and gone and the playoff races are getting interesting. The East is all but locked down, still 1 spot up for grabs and the order to fight for. Now the West is a different story with 4 teams fighting for 3 spots.
A full slate of MLS action this week sees the return of the Prodigal Son back to LA and he comes off the bench to make a cameo. New England finally shows that they do indeed have talent and if they can keep up this form will prove to be a tough out in the playoffs. Veron and Royer start for RBNY and look dangerous both ways.
The rosters for the upcoming World Cup Qualifiers were announced and with injuries to Zardes, Dempsey, and the pull out of Brooks there was room for some surprises and one of the bigger ones was the return of the Great Mustachio, Sacha Kljestan. The Red Bulls and Revolution played a match that was pedestrian, but out in Portland and down in D.C. goals were plentiful.
D.C. Week has come and gone for now and The Red Bulls gave up another second half lead. We had the pleasure of speaking to Cal and Hip from Designated Podcast about that game and get a little more insight into what’s going on in D.C. For the first time in over 36 away games Chicago finally manages a win away from Toyota Park and Finally we wrap up in Seattle. 50,000 fans were in attendance to watch their beloved Sounders take a 3-1 victory in the Cascadia cup over defending MLS Champions Portland Timbers
The Dog days of summer are here and MLS is getting back into the regular swing of things. NYCFC finally get their first win against a New York opponent and we have to talk about that, even though it pains us to do so. Montreal look just fine with out one Didier Drogba as they come storming back against New England, despite Kei Kamara opening his Revolution account.
So much to talk about this week we ran out of time on our morning commute and had to record the second half of the show on our lunch break. After a little recording snafu, Rick forgetting to hit record, we eventually got it in.
